Photographs you should take while your are on traveling
Photography is the memories records or histories tellings while you are on holiday instead of notebook but photos tell everything ifs you are not forget to capture everything you have seen as your story.
Cityscape Photography or buildings, It can be one building downtown or in the center of that city you are visited in, try to find some different timing perspective and different point of view from other to challenge yourself and have more fun for photograph what you see.
Sunrise or sunset time is the best to get golden color with light and shadows, again please don't forget to create story into your images.
My image below tells you that it was taken at golden hours through the shadows of the tree branches and we could see it was autumn.

Image below was taken afternoon day light when the sun above the head which we can see the building shadow are almost 90 degrees.
2. Bridges, A lot of beautiful historical bridges in America you can photograph, Bridge have there own charm design and building history about it so you could try to see what's the best light of the day you shoot photograph you could do close or from faraway and get more wide angel to see the city as well but its up to your imagination how you like it.
3. Street, I am not so good of street photography because I am too afraid of people going to tell me to delete there photos out from my camera ( just imagine) so that's why I have seen a lot can be good shots but too scared so I almost got nothing, I by the way envy of people who are so brave to shoot people on street though.
4. People or Portrait, in this case I mean model or people you have appointment to photograph them portrait while you on travel or holiday, holiday to me doesn't mean I stay without do anything but its mean I will do what have make me happy the most which is photography! so a lot of time before travel I will look around if's I can get the models at that place I am going to visit interested to be my models for fun or even sometime take like a job also.
